Preparing your Car

Wiring:

Please ensure to have all wiring completed before hand. It is best to run wires down the wire tracks and under the door sills. If need be, they can also be run up the trans tunnel. Wherever they are run be sure there is still some slack in case wires need to be moved or re-arranged.

Make sure every device (Amplifier, A/C, Speakers, Window Motors, Door Poppers, etc) is tested and functioning properly before the car is brought to the upholstery shop. If something is “kind of” working, your better off to take the time now and get it working right while you have plenty of room to access the devices. If you require a little more time to get it done, just notify the upholstery shop and we’ll work with you to help keep your place.

Stereo:

If you wish to have a stereo installed in your vehicle, we have many years of experience in high end car audio. Please contact us in advance when scheduling your appointment and we can help guide you to what equipment would be best suited for your vehicle.

Manual/Power Windows:

Take time to make sure windows operate smoothly up and down and that there is nothing hanging to get caught in the tracks.

If you have power windows, discuss with the upholstery shop where you would like to have the switches mounted. Be sure to have them wired, functioning, and enough slack in the wires to work them around any obstacles.

If you're looking for window switches, Watsons street works has a large selection of really nice switches aswell as a nice polarity reversing module.

Make sure you have all garnish moldings and window seals.

If your dash/garnish moldings are to be painted, be sure to check with the upholstery shop first. Painting your dash the same color as the leather with a Matte finish is a very nice and clean look. We can send you a sample to have the paint shop match it with so the color match is flawless. If the interior is to be done in red, CONTACT US FIRST. Reds can be very tricky since we have a smaller selection of reds than the paint shop does, its best we pick out the color red in leather first and then match the paint to it.

When the car is dropped off, we will examine and document and nicks or scratches with you to ensure the damage hasn't come from us. Before we start on any car, we will always tape the car to protect it, especially in any high traffic areas (sill plates, door jams, trunk, etc)

Unfortunately accidents can and do happen. If any accidents do occur, they will be documented and you will be notified immediately.

Paint:

To get a clean headliner and package tray, it is best to leave the windshield and rear glass out till after the interior is done. This allows us to make sure all edges are clean and done properly with the best bond possible. It also allows us to make sure the package tray has a clean fit around the back and that there are no ugly gaps.

Glass:

Typically, the upholstery shop is one of the last shops your car will be during the building process. It helps to have all these things done beforehand to make sure the interior does not need to be removed. Some panels can be made for ease of access to specific things, but if something is not designed to be repeatedly pulled out of the car, you run the risk of damaging the interior.
