About JB Bowling

Professionally:

I began learning upholstery while working at a car stereo shop. A long time friend of mine that I worked for had bought a sewing machine at one point but never had the time to learn how to use it. So one day I sat down with a scrap pile of material and began teaching myself how to stitch. Examining the photos of work from my idols, I then began trying to figure out how and what they did to make their interiors. Throughout the years, I have created my own methods as-well as adapting the methods from various professionals to suite my style of building. My attention to detail, innovation, and eye for design leads to a high quality interior that will last a lifetime. I am constantly trying to raise the bar for techniques as-well as materials to produce the highest quality hand crafted interior. Over the 16 years of my career, I have had the opportunity to work along side some of the best in the industry and have had the pleasure of building friendships with many others, often talking about and comparing techniques used.

To me, upholstery is more than just a job. It is a passion. It is something that I have loved doing from the moment I first sat down at a sewing machine. The amount of work, dedication, and innovation that goes into building a one-off interior is something that I have always admired about this trade. Its far more than just stitching two pieces of leather together. Its a giant puzzle. And I love solving puzzles…

Personally:

I have always loved working with my hands. Having the freedom to be creative and problem solve is one of the many benefits from doing upholstery. Yet, the biggest thrill is taking a car with nothing in it, turning it into a work of art, and seeing the look of pure joy on the customers face upon delivery. The upholstery shop is often the last stop in a cars life. After years of a customer having a dream of what they want their car to look like, it is an honor to have the opportunity to put the final pieces of the puzzle together.
